This week on the reality TV series Le grand chantier RONA, Team Red brought to life a bathroom with a cozy-chic design that inspires relaxation. This room stands out for its vertical mouldings and modern black accessories. Read on to find out how to recreate the look at home!

The Inspiration for this Bathroom Design

There are many ways to turn your bathroom into a haven of peace and relaxation. In this room, Team Red opted for neutral, enveloping shades and an elegant marbled pattern that’s reminiscent of nature while adding visual texture. Finally, touches of pure white contrast nicely with matte black accessories.

A Chic and Timeless Colour Palette

An elegant harmony of warm greys gives this bathroom a look that’s as elegant as it is timeless. In fact, soothing shades like greige (a soft blend of grey and beige) are ideal for creating a spa-like ambiance in any bathroom.

Pro Tip

Since bathrooms are humid and frequently used spaces, it’s important to choose a quality paint with a washable, durable finish that’s also mildew resistant. The Sico Kitchen and Bathroom range is an excellent choice!

This Week’s Must-Haves

Several elements catch the eye as soon as you enter this refined bathroom. We especially love the vintage-style wall sconces, which combine matte black, bronze, and brass finishes, as well as the glass shower, which lets in light while highlighting the marbled white porcelain tiles. Not to mention the elegant vanity, with its textured finish and open shelving!

Spotlight on Ceramic Tile

Stacked tiling—where tiles are laid in a straight grid without staggering—is a classic and timeless style. This linear look is perfect for contemporary or transitional spaces. In this case, Team Red opted for a stacked vertical installation that extends right up to the ceiling: a bold choice that creates an illusion of height. This impression of space is reinforced by the choice of large tiles.

Smart Saving Tips

In addition to being the easiest to install, the stacked pattern (both horizontal and vertical) is also the most affordable. It involves fewer losses and less cutting than more complex techniques such as diagonal, chevron, herringbone, or brick set installation.

This Week’s Challenge

This week, Team Red had to get out their tape measures, levels, and carpenter’s squares to make sure that the vertical mouldings—which add relief and character to the room—and the ceramic wall tiles, were perfectly straight. This is the key to a harmonious look.
