Get the Look: Bright Zen Bathroom Decor Ideas

This week on Le grand chantier RONA, Team Blue brought to life a sophisticated bright bathroom with a Zen feel. The room stands out for its bold mix of marble-effect ceramic tile and matte black accents. Read on to find out how to recreate the look at home!

The Inspiration for this Bathroom

In this small yet well-designed bathroom, the marble finish takes the spotlight with two different shapes of matching ceramic tiles, as well as a vanity with faux marble countertop. The glass shower eliminates visual barriers, adding a sense of space and comfort. This room also combines straight lines and curved shapes, which help soften the space while creating subtle contrasts.

A Bright and Pure Colour Palette

A neutral palette of pure, luminous shades enhances noble, chic materials like wood and marble finishes. The soft grey colours chosen create a serene ambiance and an airy effect.

Pro Tip

In a humid and frequently used area like a bathroom, it’s important to choose a quality paint with a washable, durable finish that’s mildew resistant. The Sico Kitchen and Bathroom range is the ideal choice!

This Week’s Must-Haves

Marble is a timeless trend, a refined finish that adds a touch of sophistication—and we love to highlight the veining by creating contrasts with well-chosen accessories. The brown engineered wood cabinets add warmth, while the matte black faucets and accessories highlight the space’s neat, modern feel.

Spotlight on Ceramic Tile

In this room, the ceramic tile steals the show. What’s more, it’s a durable, low-maintenance floor covering that’s highly resistant to water and moisture: the ideal choice for bathrooms, powder rooms, and laundry rooms. A glossy ceramic tile reflects light, making the room brighter, while a matte finish—like the one seen here—provides a less slippery surface and leaves fewer fingerprints and stains.

Pro Tip

With a veined or marbled pattern, we recommend taking the time to choose the orientation of each tile to extend the lines without ever cutting them off.

This Week’s Challenge

What makes this bathroom unique is the interplay of ceramics—with matching marble-effect tiles, but in different shapes and sizes. As you might have guessed, the real challenge for Team Blue was laying down the tiles. This project requires a lot of time, calculation, and application, but adds a ton of character and personality to the space.

Pro Tip

For a more sophisticated look and easier maintenance, a narrower—almost closed—joint is preferred between ceramic tiles.
