- Le toit est fait d'acier galvanisé de haute qualité qui bloque complètement le soleil et donc procure une ombre complète.

Does this Gazebo ( 12 X 16 Sojag Genova need building permission in Surrey BC ? Does it come in any other color ? Does it have anchoring hardware to bolt to concrete slab ?
To obtain this information you must visit your Town Hall and request a copy of their guidelines. Every county across the nation has different regulations and due to this variance, we do not have this information. For the most part permits are not required because these shelters are considered temporary structures, but it is best practice to check in with your town. I’m considering the purchase of this gazebo for a new deck. We do get a lot of wind. Can the gazebo be securely mounted to the deck? I screwed my old gazebo to the deck and braced to the rails for stability. Hoping to do so for this one.
Hello, yes the base plate on each column allows for anchors. We would suggest checking your local hardware store for the best ones depending on your area and what you are anchoring to.

I am interested in purchasing this gazebo. what is the wind loading for this gazebo? How does it attach to the foundation? I didn't find the base plates having any holes or anchors to be attached to footings

The Sojag Genova II Aluminum Sun Shelter - 12-ft x 16-ft is Not live load rated, and we recommend anchoring it down, and removing any accumulated snow off the gazebo roof (if applicable). All our gazebos need to be anchored on the ground. It is important to install the gazebo on a level surface and anchor it to the ground as soon as the installation is complete, making sure it is squared, to keep it from moving or becoming damaged in strong winds. What is the load capacity for snow

An Economical Way to Achieve a Shady Spot
SHIPPING:
First, be aware that this item comes in only two boxes, one of them weighing over 200lbs. Be prepared to have a place to put these that will not require you to move them around a lot before you tackle assembly. My order arrived in reasonable time.
ASSEMBLY:
Second, even though this item weighs 300lbs+ if you live in an area with any amount of wind, as I do, you're going to want to pour some form of concrete footing for each post and devise a means of fastening the posts to the concrete. Otherwise, you're going to be picking up the mangled scraps from the neighbour's yard.
Once it comes time for assembly, you'll be pleased with packaging. All the small parts come individually sandwiched between cardboard and plastic so that they stay put until you need them. The manufacturers thoughtfully provide a few extra of each fastener, because on a project of this size, the probability that you'll drop/lose a fastener somewhere along the way is very near 100%.
There's a consistency among fasteners that eases assembly. All bolts are 10mm and require a 4mm hex wrench. While a hex wrench is provided, I would highly recommend that you chuck a 4mm bit in a drill (with the clutch set fairly lightly) to assist in speedy assembly. There are plenty of instances where you'll need both hands and might even benefit from a third. The drill just makes things so much easier. You can always snug up fasteners with the hex wrench later, if necessary.
I did manage to assemble this entirely by myself except for a couple minutes where my wife held a fastener on one side of the roof while I tightened it on the other. However, I would highly recommend making this a 2-person endeavour if you have the manpower available.
The instructions are adequate but not exceptional. They are entirely pictorial, so sometimes it takes a few minutes to understand the orientation of a part. On the plus side, all larger parts are clearly labelled with a letter sticker. Expect to do some problem solving, however, because while the drawings show you *what* needs to be done they don't provide any suggestion of *how* you'll accomplish it. This is particularly true of erecting the rafter assembly. It also pays to give some thought about what order you'll assemble the roof panels so that you can still reach the fasteners.
In the end, assembly took me about 2 days, not including the time for pouring footings.
QUALITY:
Overall, I was pleased enough with the quality of the product. I would recommend having a soft/padded surface for setting down parts while working on them, as it's not particularly hard to scratch the finish. I do wish that the corner braces were fastened with bolts rather than screws tapped into the sheet aluminum of the legs and upper cross bars.
My biggest disappointment was when I realized that the horizontal beams supporting the roof came in two pieces. I understand why this is necessary (shipping), but it means that it's virtually impossible for there not to be a slight sag over time. I suspect most people might not notice or care, but that's just not my nature. There's also a bit of wobble in the entire structure. Not that it's going to collapse or anything, but if you bump into it, it shakes. I think this could be remedied somewhat if the corner braces were a bit beefier.
I had barely assembled the unit when a once-in-a-decade blizzard hit us, piling a foot and a half snow on the roof before I could get out to scrape it off. On the upside, the structure survived, but I certainly wouldn't recommend leaving any amount of snow accumulation on it for a long period of time. Dry snow is more inclined to slip off the metal surface, but if you live in an area where wet snow is common, this is a consideration.
CONCLUSION:
It's an attractive structure, and it cost me much less in money and time than constructing the equivalent from wood. Only time can determine its long-term durability, but overall, I'm happy with the result so far.

Sojag Genova II 12 x 16 Gazebo Assembly
"Covid 19 Coffee Club" We are very pleased with the ease of assembly and quality of the gazebo. By using one set of scaffold with two deck planks the need for working off ladders was kept to a minimum. An excellent project for people with intermediate assembly and construction skills. One tip that will result in a successful project is make sure you set up and anchor your corner posts "Square and plumb" then everything else will go together without a problem. By the way...I'm a 77 yr. old retired person...so almost anyone can build one of these units. One challenge for Sojag is to incorporate pockets in the bottom of the curtains to weight them so that there is less flapping in the wind.

Damaged roof and poor service.
Roof came damaged. Called Lowes, they gave us the runaround. Due to strict timeline, we had to put it up damaged, as there was no stock available to replace the unit.

Privacy curtains are impossible to find
We purchase the 12 ft x 16 ft gazebo last summer and it is great except that we are unable to find a privacy curtain for it. It would be great to have some added privacy from the neighbors.

Absolutely love it!
I’ve had mine since 2018 and there’s no rust standing up perfectly really good material, you will need 2 to 3 people to put it together specially when you’re putting the roof on the legs!
