No user manual, unknown stone grit
I wish Stanley would provide a user manual explaining how to proceed to sharpen my blades, I had to download user manuals from other brands and look at YouTube videos to get a hint. Also, the stone obviously have 2 different grits, but which ones? It is not even obvious which one is the fine grit of the two. Lame job. Last but not least, I am still not convinced of the value of oil sharpening compared to water. After a few tries, the stone becomes very dirty.

good quality oil stone
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I found my old Stanley No. 4 Sweetheart Wood Plane badly rusted and frozen with corrosion after getting out of the hospital. I proceeded to soak and wiggle the parts until I was able to disassemble the entire tool. Elbow grease, wire brushes, and time gave me back my "Sweetheart". Except for the cutting iron! I wanted to resharpen the original iron but was not able to keep the precise angle completely across the cutting surface. Research revealed the Stanley Blade Sharpening System. After opening the package I started treating the stone with the oil provided like my grandfather taught me. While introducing oil to the stone so as to achieve total saturation, I prepared to assemble the iron to the sharpening guide. I should have washed my hands before trying to assemble the guide and cutting iron. After fixing that oversight, I finally got the angle correct, iron square to the stone and ready to sharpen the iron. Wow, the guide made everything so simple and easy. Next thing I knew I had all of my chisels and plane irons out and in the guide, happily getting sharpened "correctly"! Thank You Stanley

Sharpening system
I have one for over a year and it's good, it's not easy to use but if you have experience it will do the job.. The price is also good, I've bought another to keep reserved.
Cons: I think Stanley could have more stones with less and more grain. I have to finish my chisels with another stones or sandpapers.
It could have a box or a stand, I've made one out of kambala wood to keep my stone.
