I have a fireplace that is not functional in the basement and would like to put an insert in it. The width is 30 inches would this insert work? I am confused with the box measurement as it is supposed to be a 27 insert...
The firebox is 24.8" wide and 18.31" high. The trim around the unit is 28.35" wide, so you would still have about 2 inches that you would have to fill some how. However, we do have another model, EF-128-5, which has a firebox that would fit into your space and the trim would cover up the remaining space. The firebox of that model is 27.2" wide and 22.8" high, and the trim that goes on the outside of the hole is 30.71" wide and 24.61" high

is this front venting?
There is an air intake vent on the back of the unit, so the back will need a bit of clearance. The more clearance you have, the more efficiently the unit will operate

Do you have installers who can come into the home and install these electrical fireplaces?
No, we do not offer installation services. The unit is plug-and-play, though, so the only installation would really be inserting the unit into a mantel or old fireplace opening.

Can the flange kit be left off the unit or is it permanently fastened? I have a maximum of 28 inches wide to work with on the wall unit that I want to build. Moving to Calgary.
The trim is not an actual kit, it is permanently attached

Perfect
I searched for a week to find a replacement insert to fit in my media center and my budget. This fit the bill on both counts. When I received this insert, I was so happy, it slid right in and fit perfectly. The fire looks so real and heats as expected. Very happy with my purchase.

Received it and plugged it in immediately but it makes a clicking sound maybe every 30 seconds. The unit does give off good heat though. I think the noise is an issue enough that I will return it.

I bought this a month ago, because my old insert stop working....instead of buying a new media unit, I decided to hunt down an insert. I got this onsale for $300 and well worth the money. The description online with the measurements were exact and slid right into my media unit....it actually looks nicer then the previous one because of the retrofit surround adds a nice touch. I was worried the retrofit would get in the way of my side doors, but it is the exact fit...I couldn't be happier...plus the lights are LED and the flame looks very real, at first it seemed more orange flame then my old red flame, but I like this so much better, and it runs very quiet and heat up the room nicely, but I use it a lot without the heat, just for the ambiance. Arrive on time and in perfect condition. Very easy to take out the old and slip in the new one and just plugged it in.

I just received the insert and was a little worried about the retro fit because I wasn't sure how it would look not being flush as was the previous one.....but it looks so much better then I thought and way better then my original muskoka insert. This units measurement were right on and matched up perfectly and it slid right in and the retrofit did not block the doors on my unit....the opening on my unit was 25x18.5x8.5... the only negative was the picture shows a grill in front of logs but the manual and the insert I received does not..considering my old unit was discontinued I was so happy to get this replacement and it was on sale , so a plus all around
