I really love the curved shower unit
I really love the idea of the curved shower unit. It gives me more space inside the shower when showering. It gives the bathroom a luxurious look

Great tub, great price.
The tub was easily installed by our plumber without encountering any issues. Thetub could have had more fiberglass backing on the inside. Some areas did not have any on it and you could see light through the acrylic. I was assured by customer service that this would in no way affect the structure. I attached standard insulation to the tub before installing and this resulted in retaining heat and coolness in the water for an extended time. We are very happy with our purchase and at the price paid it is an exceptional value considering American Standard is a leader in this field.

OUTSTANDING TUB
This is a big beautiful tub! It is very easy to clean and keeps its shine. It is the best tub to soak in with a lot of room.

Would not recommend
Drain is way way way off so your basic drain kit won’t fit. You will have to make your own pvc overflow and drain with a flexible fitting

Great Tub, More room!
Great quality tub and wall kit. Makes our small bathroom feel bigger, I have back problems and need to soak and this IS the nicest tub I've found to do so. Id recommend a couple extra steps to install, originally got the tub and didn't want to do tile or go with a flimsy surround, the one on display was cheesy. After unboxing the tub wall kit in the isle and taking measurements I decided that with some extra steps I could sturdy it up.
Set the tub in a bed of mortar.
You'll have to move the tub fill pipe up (plumber needed or experienced DIYer, we had to gut everything due to mold anyway) otherwise where the tub fill spout meets the curved part of the tub wall it wont sit flush, or all the way against the panel tight.
I spray foam filled the tub wall shelves completely and trimmed excess, no flexing now.
I added backing for future grab bars if needed, and between studs everywhere the tub wall flange would be.
Vapor barrier on all walls.
Attached 1/4" hardi board on all walls 1" past all tub wall flange areas.
I glued the heck out of the panels to 1/4" hardie board with Loctite tub wall adhesive, it's one of the few that actually say it works on cement boards, as well as being waterproof. 1/4" beads every 6-8" grid pattern on anything that touched the hardie board, the back of each shelf where it would contact hardi, and the tub deck where the panels sit and each joint where the panels meet each other and the screw flange to the wall board. 4 tubes worth!
Then when the adhevive is fully cured , caulk all joints with white silicone, the sticky stuff.
Very important to level your tub deck during install, front to back side to side each end, the tub wall kits have some play built in for walls that wing out or in, in the front or back, but the tub deck must be level to get your wall kit joints tight. That is a good reason to use the mortar base, take your time then and get it level, screw the flange to the studs by just resting the screw on top of the tub flange and tightening until the head is tight to the tub flange, I used some washers on a couple that needed it. Now let the mortar set.
When its time , get in the tub (put a towel down) and move around looking for squeaks, adjust/add screws as necessary, I had to use a shim in one spot.
On the wall kit flange I predrilled and used a countersink, barely , where I screwed to the studs so It wouldn't crack the plastic.
You could use 1/4 sheetrock as a backer also but get the green kind.
We've had it about 6 months and it cleans easy with dawn, used carnuba wax once to get the water spots off (we have hard water), it seems to hold up well, my son plays with all matter of things in there and I haven't noticed a scratch. It's a great product but like anything, needs installed right. Kinda like my 20 year roof that lasted 2 years (roof leaks, siding and sheetrock damage inside), was done by the same handyman that "reused" a toilet wax ring when doing tile in the bathroom just prior to us purchasing the house (toilet leaked under the tile every time we flushed for about a year before we noticed "a smell")....
I wouldn't just screw the top flange of the tub wall to a stud and call it good, that leaves the rest of the panel, especially at the bottom, all floppy. It has nothing to attach to except at the top, so think of it as a shower curtain. If its floppy and flexy your silicone caulk joints will surely fail, if you don't use backing and the tub adhesive all that holds (or doubtfully will) the wall panel to the tub at the bottom is the silicone. Find an intelligent installer, or be one. I'm a cabinet installer/carpenter.

Nice and wide without using as much space.
I bought this for our main upstairs bathroom. I could have fit a regular 34" tub in the pre-existing alcove, but i wanted to have a clean tile bullnose all the way to the floor so I opted for a 32" with the bowed front. The tub is more than enough room for just about anyone. The installation was a breeze and I picked it up myself with a normal sized SUV. The tub wasn't heavy in the slightest. I bought the deep soak drain with he tub and together my wife is in heaven. Great product at a spectacular price. Most stores had these in stock in my area so it was a same day pick up.

Love it !
We had this tub installed in a remodel to our bathroom and within 2 weeks it had a crack, so we called american standard and they took control of this very quick. They called a tub repair co and the company called and we set a date and time for the repair. We could not tell where the crack had been without knowing beforehand.

You have to be creative to get this in correctly
The other reviewers are correct. This tub has a MAJOR design flaw in that the exterior drain flange is cut at the wrong angle. If you use a traditional drain kit, you will run into nothing but issues and it will leak... no matter how many gaskets you add.
The fix: When plumbing out the drain, get the PVC fittings without all of the pipes. This will usually consist of a drain fitting (90 degree), overflow fitting and overflow cover. Next, you will then get the PVC pipes to build a proper 1.5" trap. After you have these parts, you will then get a 1.5" fernco flexible drain fitting. This fitting is different than most other Fernco's as it is grey in color and far more flexible. Get enough 1.5" PVC pipe to make your stub ends. I ended up getting a 3 foot span so I had extra to work with.
Once you have all of the parts, you will want to install the 90 degree exterior drain fitting directly to the flange WITHOUT anything connected to it. Get it sealed nice and snug. After this is complete, build the rest of the parts on this. The Fernco will compensate for the angle issue and you will get a good seal.
Outside of this issue, the tub is great. The only complaint I have is the glass is a little thin on the sides. I am surprised American Standard would slip this bad when it comes to QA on such a critical part of the tub.
