The desk arrived in about a week from B.C. to Ontario. The box was a bit damaged, but nothing was scratched or dented - it is packed inside a box that is inside another box, giving it plenty of protection. The instructions are pretty good (there's a package of screws that aren't in the packing list, but you use them to assemble the drawer).
I built it on my own and it took me just over an hour. It's nice and solid - looks great. However, the drop-down lid doesn't lie perfectly flat so the desk part is actually at bit of an angle. The hinge holes on the side should be a little lower. If it bothers you, it should be easy enough to fix. Would I recommend it? YES, it's worth the money and time to assemble.
Tips: Build the drawer in step 5 NOT 7. You have to install the drawer, add the dowels/stoppers and then install the top shelf. You cannot install the drawer after everything is built, because of the stoppers. I had to remove the top shelf (easy to do), slide the drawer in and then install the dowels/stopper. Put the top shelf back in. Because I had the hinges installed, I ended up scratching the top shelf while removing and re-installing it.
My only disappointment is there's no way to add your AirMiles number in the order field when ordering on line.
