Don't Buy This Junk
This came with my apartment, so I don't have a choice in the matter.
it's garbage. I've had it replaced THREE times, and it's STILL junk. It leaks, it doesn't dry properly, and it takes FOREVER. How they can justify it, I don't know.

Had no choice… if you do, DON’T BUY IT!
This dryer came with my apartment. I’ve had nothing but problems. Clothes are still wet after the first go around. Which means time has to be added on, at least 30 minutes. I’m very careful to clean *both* lint traps! It’s already been repaired once within the first year of me using it. And now it’s working/not working! It goes for a bit then seems to stall and it sounds like it’s trying to get the drum to go. I can’t afford to get this thing repaired again. And hearing that it has to be taken apart to just have MORE lint removed by a tech is ridiculous! If I could toss this thing in the dump I would.

impossible to clean build up
I used the machine for approximately a year or so - always cleaned out the lint but the buildup in the grid where the pump is is disgusting you can see its clogged. my husband, a very handy guy, attempted every which way to access it to clean but you cant remove it! I havent used it in a year, I use out 15 year old dryer in the basement which has yet to fail us. big price tag for giant fail. all is needs is a cleaning but it has been made to make that virtually impossible to do.

Best decision when you know how to use
I have this dryer for the last two years and I am really happy about the results. Some reviews have complaints about clothes not being fully dry but this is not the case for me. I always set the drying to a time cycle of 2.5 hours and everything is always dry!!!. Yes takes way longer to dry but the electrical consumption is way lower compared to a traditional dryer. I am not going back to a traditional dryer after using this technology.

In the original review I said the following: “I have had this dryer for just over a year (warranty ended) and of course an issue begins. Before I get into that, just a few general comments on this dryer. First, it does take considerably longer to dry clothes but uses less electricity. It does however put a lot of humidity into the air meaning moisture on the windows in winter and extra warmth in the summer. It’s a bit more work than a regular dryer in that there are two filters to clean and while the lower one is recommended to be cleaned every 5 loads, doing that led to lint getting past the inner screen and stuck to the heat exchanger tubes and a musty smell so it now gets cleaned very laid and left out of the dryer so the inside can dry and not smell. And this leads me to my largest and show stopping issue had I known about it. The screen between the second filter and the inside of the dryer CANNOT be removed to allow for cleaning without essentially taking the dryer apart (screen visible in the picture below). Whirlpool recommends a professional cleaning every two years adding unnecessarily to cost of what is already a VERY expensive dryer. Now after 14 months, water is leaking out of the dryer under bottom beneath the second filter area and pooling under the dryer. The thing is perfectly level and the rear fan perfectly clean. So I either put up with water on the floor or inside my pedestal drawer every load or call a repairman who probably has no clue how to deal with a heat pump dryer. It’s an interesting dryer but poorly executed so I would avoid it in favour of a regular vented model if at all possible…something that can be easily kept clean and not need a professional to dismantle it…which could have been solved if the inner screen was removable.”
Since I can’t update that review, I will add here that after almost a year of various technician visits and parts replacement to solve the leaking water which continued to get worse, the dryer has now been deemed non-repairable and has to be replaced. Thankfully the extended warranty I purchased with the dryer covers that. It is beyond ridiculous that leaking water can not be resolved and an otherwise functional dryer is now trash.
In addition I will also restate that having to completely dismantle the dryer to access the condenser coils to clean caked on lint is insane. Having watched mine being taken apart several times to try and repair the leak problem, this is not something the average homeowner will want to try on their own and will thus require a professional technician every 18 to 24 months (or less if the dryer is used often) to disassemble, clean and then reassemble. There goes any electricity savings one might hope for to payback the additional upfront extra cost of this dryer. I have lowered the previous rating to one star.
I hope others have better luck with what should be a great dryer but is not in my opinion. Serious redesign needed.

Not thrilled with this machine
We have 3 of these machines in our small condo building. One machine is generally ok with no problems, one mostly dries ok, (within the cycle set) but often makes buzzing and whiring noises, and one rarely dries anything without have to restart it numerous times, and always makes loud buzzing and whirring noises. We've had repair people out, but still not working property. I've used ventless machines before, and these are by far not the quality of most- attempts to work with customer service have been frustrating to say the least. These machines are less then 2 years old, and the corresponding washers are great...I have scheduled another service call out, and if this doesn't solve the issues, unfortunately we will likely need to replace the whole stack if we want a working dryer, and it won't be with a whirlpool product.

Year Two, its okish
In year two with this dryer. Enormous amounts of lint, so much that despite cleaning BOTH filters after every cycle the screen behind the secondary filter has become clogged such that it takes a very long time to dry loads now. The humidity in the house when the dryer is running sky rockets, which I guess I knew going in, but its unbearably hot in the summer. Don't count on getting to use it more than once in an evening if its near any sleeping areas. I appreciate that the dryer has a much smaller footprint, but its disappointing.

First Heat Pimp Dryer Ive Had
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Ok, so Ive now had this unit for about a month. From my research I was expecting it to take forever to dry the cloths, lots of moisture and humidity, etc. Well it has surprised me in a great way. Yes, its takes longer for the cloths to dry, I get that, but they come out dry. Its somewhat quiet, and it DOES save energy. I have no real issues with unit at all except you MUST clean out the two filters every 2 or 3rd load to stop it from clogging. The build quality is good, a little too much plastic for my liking but overall. good..
