Can the power cord be replaced with hardwiring to a thermostat?
Absolutely! Wexstar Infrared Heaters are 120 volts and can be hardwired to a thermostat you may simply do so with a professional electrician.

Could this be used in a sauna?
The panels are moisture resistant (IP54), and have no problem being used in a sauna. To use it as a way to reach actual sauna temperatures, depending on the size of the sauna, you would need multiple units to reach the proper temperature.

The Wexstar Heater can be installed in a drop ceiling without any problems. The unit measures 23.5 X 23.5 x 1 inches; They can be installed flush, hanging or attached to the ceiling.

Slow and steady heat
I bought this panel for a small insulated rear addition that is normally almost 10 degrees colder than the rest of the home in subzero outdoor temperatures. This is not a heater you blast for immediate heat. It took approx 24 hours to bring the temperature up 6-7 degrees. In combination with the plug-in thermostat that’s sold separately, this heater is exactly what I’d hoped. Don’t be alarmed by the slow heating but do make sure you buy the right wattage for the size of your room. My only complaint is the length of the cord, cannot be installed on the ceiling without an extension.

Love Wexstar
Own two of these, have them in different rooms. I love that the heat is not excessive. I did notice that due to the lower consumption my electric bill went down.

Very hot to touch
I bought this during a sale event to add additional heat to our basement rec room. I purchased this originally for its silent operation and slim design. Unfortunately, It did not provide the heat we needed (probably because the room is too large ), and I also found the panel became very hot to touch. This product will be going back to the store for a different infrared heater.
