So happy
We hated to have to replace our entire ceiling fan so this was a wonderful alternative. Easy to install! We are so very happy.

Safe Buy
Have a Hunter model ceiling fan, remote got broken, and bought this, which contains a matching remote/receiver pair. Replacing the old receiver with this one was straightforward : undo the 5 wires holding the old receiver in place, attach the 5 wires of the new receiver in their place. Wires are labeled : 2 wires for mains (1 live, 1 neutral ), 2 wires for motor (again, 1 live, 1 neutral ), and 1 wirefor lights. Be sure to kill the ceiling fan power at the source ( fusebox circuit breaker) first of course. After that, choose a Dip switch setting for the receiver ( I used "0-0-0-1") and set the same pattern on the remote's Dip switches so they can talk to one another, and you're done.
The same will work for other makes/models of ceiling fan, because the fan itself doesn't matter that much ; what matters is having a receiver and remote that are compatible. If you try buying ONLY a remote online, for example, and it isn't EXACTLY a replacement of the one you had, you're taking your chances. This way costs a little more, but is a safe bet.
I gave it 4 stars and not 5 for only one reason : it doesn't dim as low as the old one did … about 70% as much. Not a deal breaker for me.
