Not-so-handy homeowner from
Good protection for outdoor outlet
I bought both the horizontal and vertical models of this weatherproof outlet cover and I'm mostly satisfied. The foam padding at the back somewhat seals against the electrical box but works best where the opening of the box is flush with a flat concrete or stucco wall. If you're mounting on a brick wall you may want to silicone around the sides and top, leaving at least a small gap at the bottom for any moisture to be able to drain out. Installation is a bit tricky: the receptacle must be screwed into the box over the housing (see photos). If you don't have a lot of slack in your wires you might have to disconnect the receptacle. In my case I was able to angle it in from the back. It would be easier if the housing secured itself in front of the receptacle. Finally, you might want to install an insulating foam cut-out between the receptacle and the cover plate for a tighter seal.

Great waterproof cover
Bought this to protect Xmas lights plug on an exposed location that sees most of the weather. Works great.
