How many packages do I need to cover a floor that measures 8ft x 11ft?
Each tile is 12"x12" or 1 square foot (SF). Each box contains 10 tile or 10SF (10 tiles x 1SF). Your room is 88SF (8x11) plus 10% waste during installation is 97SF. 97/10=9.7 or 10 boxes. Could consider an extra box if you would like to have spare tile to replace any that become damaged over time.
