When you say the height is 8 ft 8 in, do you mean under clearance? If so what is the total height of the completed structure?
92 inches is the clearance under the beams which is the lowest part of the pergola. Under the rafters is 96.625 inches.

Great looking pergola!
We opted to have someone put it together for us so not sure how difficult assembly is, but the end result is beautiful looking.
