Excellent for patching my chinch bug damage
I have tried so many purported lawn soils only to be disappointed each time. This stuff is by far the best soil I have found to date. The odd piece of wood or bark, but NOTHING compared to some of the competitors. Nice rich black with peat. Used Pro-mix grass seed and after a week, have grass is about 1". This is in mid to late September so trying to get my grass in good condition before the snow flies and so I can be off to a good start in spring.

Not recommended for lawns!
If you like to top-up your gardens with mulch at the same time you top-dress your lawn, you'll love this stuff! I purchased eight bags of this two days ago and unfortunately all eight contained a noticeable amount of bark chips and mulch that I had to (and still need to do again, actually) go through and handpick out. If that sounds like backbreaking work, that's because it is! I went out of the way to spend extra on this product vs. a cheap black soil/dirt alternative as I figured I was going to get what I paid for which wasn't the case at all. Find a better soil, something that's actually meant for topdressing or overseeding with because this is a disappointment.

Excellent lawn soil for re-seeding
Convinced of few 5 star reviews and bought some bags this June 2020 at Rona Midland. After re-seeding the lawn, seeds start to sprout faster than expected. Of course it was coupled with frequent watering in hot summer days. This soil is of very fine quality with no pieces of plastics, big chunk of wood chips, and other rubbish. Woodchips present are so small and blends with the fine black texture of the soil. Keeps on buying out for more when we ran out of of it.
