Description
Refresh your walls with the look of these SpeedTiles self-adhesive marble tiles. White and grey marble colouring gives these Siberia tiles a subtle design that works with different decor. Each tile has a linear mosaic pattern for an elongated effect. Jagged edges slot together to interlock multiple tiles on a wall. With the adhesive backing on these self-stick tiles, installation is mess-free. There's no need for glue or mortar, so these tiles install three times faster than others. With 12 tiles in one carton, each tile measures 11.88 in W x 9.69 in L. Heat resistance makes these kitchen marble tiles safe to use around stoves or hot surfaces. Their moisture-resistant properties mean the tiles are suitable for wet areas such as a bathroom. The SpeedTiles wall tiles are easy to clean for low maintenance. Protection comes from the manufacturer's 10-year EverStik limited warranty.

Inexpensive real stone, but poor adhesion
I bought these because I needed to install a sink backsplash in a hurry (guests arriving tomorrow, needed to install sink tomorrow morning, so no time for mortar and grout). First, the positives. Nice-looking stone, inexpensive (got a quick backsplash for under $50), prompt customer service (I had to contact the company with an installation question and they got back to me within an hour or so), no need for a tile saw (just used my miter saw), and looks great on the wall. However, the adhesive quality is poor, especially if you end up having to cut small sections to fill in at the corner of a wall. I followed the instructions meticulously (e.g., a fine mist of water/dish soap prepared 500ml water to 1 tsp of soap sprayed lightly to cover entire area, walls smooth and clean). Here's the problem. First, the adhesion of full sections was only adequate, and on the "finger" sections the adhesive does not extend all the way to the edges and seems to be slightly thinner than for the body so they kept lifting. For small pieces cut to fill in at the wall's edge, a few actually fell off. I ended up using painters' tape to hold them down. We will see if they hold. If you have an installation like mine (mid wall, not resting on a counter or sink) I highly recommend installing a starter strip below the first row of tiles. One section kept sliding down every so slightly, and a starter strip would have prevented the problem. I ended up using painters' tape to hold it in position. All in all, I think I would have been better off with stone veneer and a backing adhesive material I saw at Rona for approx. $30. Other issues: one "finger" was cracked, but I didn't actually mind because it just made the installation look more natural; where a couple of "finger" ends lifted, the joint is uneven, but again I didn't mind that it was perfectly smooth -- gave it a bit of a ledgestone feel. So, unfortunately, I can't recommend the product because of the adhesion issue. Too bad. Would have been great for people in a reno rush.
