I have put together tons of manufactured wood furniture of this style construction and almost always find the assembly to be a major headache and the end product to be ultimately disappointing. South shore furniture is truly a cut above. We were excited to switch our 2.5yr old from a toddler bed (cheap Chinese nightmare to construct btw) to her new South Shore - Savannah “big girl bed.”
My past experiences told me I needed a solid 4-5 hrs and a pint of bourbon to get through this, but the moment I opened the package I knew this was different.
The instructions were clearly communicated and well organized, the materials were quality, and not having to use an Allen wrench was a major plus. Really appreciated being able to use my own screw drivers. I had the bed and headboard assembled in just at 2 hrs with no bourbon and only maybe 5 swear words. It is sturdy and looks great. My daughter and wife love it, especially all of the room on the bookcase headboard for her “babies.”
I much prefer building my own furniture from solid wood when practical, but I know I would turn back to South Shore in an instant for something like this that doesn’t need to be heirloom quality: just safe, sturdy, and nicely designed. North American quality and craftsmanship at this price level is simply unbeatable.
