Description
Exterior log or wood siding can last hundreds of years with proper care. SICO(R) ProLuxe(R) products offer high-performance protective coatings for logs, wood siding, garage doors and trim. This translucent wood finish provides an outstanding coating that enhances the natural appearance of wood. SICO(R) ProLuxe(R) 1 Primary Coat RE is a translucent exterior wood basecoat to be used with SICO(R) ProLuxe(R) 23 Top Coat RE. When used together, this system offers excellent durability and protection for siding, logs and other vertical surfaces. Cedar.
- Its translucent iron oxide pigments amplify depth of colour, clarity and substrate protection
- Microporous water-repellent product; which is waterproof, but allows wood to breathe
- Its powerful UV absorbers protect colour and wood substrate
- Contains penetrating natural oils providing good wood surface penetration for optimum protection against flaking
- Penetrating alkyd-oil formula, part of a 3-coat system followed by a topcoat of SICO® ProLuxe® 23 Primary Coat RE Wood Finish(TM)
- Contains a mildew-resistant preservative

Durable and beautiful product
I have over 30 years experience using these Sikkens products. They are excellent, long-lasting and beautiful as long as they are on vertical surfaces such as siding. I do not recommend them for decks because they are a "furniture" finish and, if scratched, will allow moisture to penetrate the wood and cause the coating to peel. As with all stains, it is very important to follow manufacturer's application instructions to achieve a satisfactory result. Using the maintenance product is an excellent idea to preserve the attractive glossy finish.
