Can I stain over semi transparent stain a different color. I want to go a lighter color than is there now. Maybe use a solid stain?

Good for showing grain and maintaining color
The color is perfect for restoring and maintaining the initial color of sienna-colored pressure treated wood. As with any semi-transparent stain, it does not provide the amount of protection to decks that solid stain does. That's because the stain has to be thin to show the wood grain. I did the decks at my home and cottage when the wood was new and then cleaned. The stain goes on easily and the "natural" color is correct. The helpful salesperson in the Lowe's (now Rona) store let me dip pieces of the wood into demonstrator cans to see what color gave the best match. The decks don't absorb water since the stain went on, but it did start to wear after one year. So, I put a new coat on, which is easy to do. The vertical surfaces (railings, posts and fences) did not need further treatment. I am happy using Behr solid stain, which lasts very long. But for having semi-transparent stain of the proper color, this product is the best there is. SICO is Akzo-Nobel and there are a lot of other brands that are the same as SICO that cost more.

SICO Water-based Exterior Stain
I've used this product on our deck, front veranda and outdoor wooden steps. It goes on evenly and provides an attractive finish but the durability will vary considerably between surfaces that are exposed to rain and snow versus surfaces that are not. Expect two years for exposed surfaces and four years for covered areas. However, I have experienced similar results with two other water-based exterior stain products that I have used in the past.

Bonjour. Je souhaite avoir vos recommendations pour teinture de bois. J'ai construis mon pation ça fait 3 ans. J'ai laissé le bois traité passé un hiver sans rien faire. Puis l'été dernier, je l'ai nettoyé avec un nettoyant special pour ouvrir les pores du bois. J'ai appliqué par la suite 2 ou 3 couches de teinture cèdre léger SICO. Cette année, le bois a l'air d'un bois qui date des années. Pourtant très satisfait de la peinture SICO intérieure.

Acheté et appliqué le 21 juin 2023. Bien respecter les délais pour la deuxième couche , soit pas moins de 4 heures et pas plus de 24 heures.
J’utilise cette teinture depuis 10 ans et les méthodes de deuxième couche ont changé.
Une fois les délais de séchage respectés , très bonne résistance .

I bought this stain 15 yrs ago and it was the best stain I ever bought.I am redoing my fence with the same stuff because that's how good it is,and actually the fence still looks good just going to refresh it.

Works well.
I used it for my mailbox post. It gives a new dark yellow/golden colour look. I put two coatings that were recommended in the instructions on the stain can. So far, I have no problems.
