Would this work for 4x4 fence posts?
You could, but it won't be very stable. It's more for decks where the pressure is mostly vertical. Fences are more about lateral movement (wind and lean). Best idea is for a fence is an 8" hole. Few inches of gravel at the bottom, I bag of concrete and fill the rest of the hole in gravel. Great drainage and it won't heave.

Great for DIY
I purchased these to be the post holder for a roofed gazebo over our hot tub. I highly recommend using a piece of rebar to probe the ground before insertion to detect any rocks you may encounter. It takes a bit of patience to get them aligned and plumb but well worth the effort.

Just put 4 of these in the ground. It works great as long as you don't hit any obstacles on the way down.

Worst product every
Please don't believe the installation videos you see if this product. It looks easy in the video. I bought 4 of these hoping to go the "easy" route and avoid concrete footings . Instead after spending 2 days, I am taking these out and going with regular concrete footings. These just don't budge once you hit a rock and keep turning in place.

I spent over 3 hrs on one of these and only got it 15" into the ground. What a waste of time!
