Sturdy construction but three issues to consider
I purchased this 4-way water manifold for a garden irrigation system because it was made of brass and I thought it would wear well and be exceptionally sturdy; the item is well made, very strong, and the four output valves work exceptionally smoothly providing fine control over water flow. I have this manifold in my system working well now. However, I had three separate problems with this item.
First, the plastic o-ring at the input was too small - there was a gap between the outer diameter of the o-ring and the inner diameter of the input tube - and I found it tricky to get a good seal to my hose. Second, the plastic collar on the input I found to be relatively flimsy (compared with e.g. the Yardworks manifold which I also have) and this made it difficult for me to apply sufficient torque on the o-ring. Thirdly, there are brass stubs on the manifold to accept a support bar - and mounting hardware comes with the item. This is great if you mount it the way that is was designed to be mounted. But if you don't, the stubs can get in the way. I wanted to attach the manifold directly to a horizontal wooden support using the three holes in the manifold to secure the manifold to the support with wood screws. I did not want to use the input hose as a support point. I wanted to be able to easily attach and detach the input hose. When I attempted to mount the manifold in this way I had to chisel holes in the wooden support to accept the brass stubs. Not difficult, but something I did not expect to have to do.
I ordered online, so the issues mentioned above did not become obvious until I received the item and I started to install the manifold in my garden system and start to use it. If you are considering purchasing this, I would highly recommend close inspection of the item in the shop first to make sure it is going to work for you. I would also recommend replacing the o-ring that comes with it with one that fits better.
