Description
This over-the-range microwave from Kitchen Aid is an ideal product for small kitchens. This microwave, which needs to be installed above a conventional oven or a cooktop, features a charcoal filter and a 400 CFM exhaust fan. With a power of 1000 W and a capacity of 1.9 cu. ft., large plates can be cooked quickly. The Cookshield finish interior allows an easy cleaning without harsh chemicals. The microwave is also equipped with preprogrammed controls and a large 14" glass turntable which automatically stops rotating if a large plate is placed inside. Several options come with this appliance, including a child lockout control and sensor cooking controls that automatically adjust time and power for perfect cooking results. This product is backed by a 1-year limited warranty on parts and labor.

OK Microwave, Exceptionally Poor Support
I purchased this microwave and just after the warranty expired I started having issues with the buttons on the door. I would not (and am not) able to press the buttons. Shortly after I started to hear something rattling around when I would open and close the door. I put in a service request shortly after. It has now been over 1.5 years and Kitchen Aid has not repaired the microwave. Given what I initially paid for the microwave I want it fixed, but I am at the point of giving up with Kitchen Aid repair services.
As for the microwave itself, there is nothing special about it. The fan is not good...it does a poor job venting odours outdoors when cooking. I would not recommend.

KitchenAid - 1000-Watt Convection Microwave

You get what you pay for and if you want the best and reliable products, then look no further than KitchenAid. My wife and I are well pleased with all of their products and especially our new KitchenAid microwave.

Awesome Microwave!!!

Perfect for our needs

My Kitchen Aid Micro
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) This is my second major KitchenAid appliance. Both have delivered as promised. I got this microwave/convection because i did not want to have to heat up the large oven for small bakes. This does everything promised. I can use t as a microwave and i can convert it to a convection oven. There a couple of design items that could be better.
1. The volume of the tones need to be higher. i live in a large apartment and do not hear the gentle tones to let me know that the cooking is done.
2. The "Manual option" for the convection oven should be the first offered rather than having to scroll through 4 -5 options before I get to the "Manual Option". This is the option that I would think most people would use most often.
Just as i love my Convection/Induction stove, so do I love this micro/convection oven.

Stopped working after <3 years. Waste of $
After having this microwave for less than 3 years, this microwave stopped heating items. (The other electrical still worked, i.e. clock, light, timer but otherwise useless.) We paid a repairman to look at it and he told us not to bother because parts were melted and it would cost >$1,000 to repair - about the same as to replace. He said that because KitchenAid microwaves, even ‘over the range’ styles, don’t have a heatguard of any kind, parts melt after a very short time. In short: don’t waste your money on this. It’s overpriced!

Convection option is so handy!
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Installed this unit and am finding we are using the convection option almost as much as the microwave. Much more handy than turning the oven on.
The only downside is that the door is full width of microwave so swings out further than old unit did.
