Core shell hybrid resin technology provides deep stain penetration, waterproofing and UV defense to strengthen, protect and condition wood fibers, ensuring the wood's natural beauty lasts. Recommended for use on exterior wood, including decks, fences, siding, railings, outdoor furniture and other wood surfaces. May be used on new, dry, pressure-treated wood, uncoated new or weathered wood, or previously coated wood with a weathered, clear sealant or semi-transparent stain. 3.78 L.

Olympic Maximum “Bright botchy orange”
*Posted same review to Olympics website but not sure if they screen negative reviews? Will update both locations if they respond. I’ll add photos in a reply when I figure that out.
Built a cedar deck late last summer. Allowed it to weather until this past weekend. It still looked new. Purchased Olympic Premium Deck Cleaner and Olympic Maximum “Cedar Naturaltone“ stain from Rona as recommended by salesperson. Cleaned Saturday (this part appeared to work well) and stained on Sunday.
Now our deck is extremely bright blotchy orange. The photo doesn’t duplicate just how awful and extremely bright it looks. All our hard work ruined in a couple of hours.
Can we buy a different colour and apply a second coat? If not, how do we remove the stain?
We even went to the trouble of using a hidden (angled) screw system to fasten the deck boards. What a waste of time.

Overall product value continues to fall
The price goes up each year and the quantity in the standard "gallon" continues to drop. Also, I notice that this product used to say coverage lasts up to 2, 4, or X years when applied as directed. If so, why does my fence still look good and yet the deck looks bad even though the fence was done 5 years ago and deck more recently? I asked someone at the store about that and he said the promise on the can is not reasonable.

Horrible and Useless Product
This product is complete junk. Do not purchase it! I bought 3 gals of Olympic Maximum Semi-Transparent Stain 716 Cedar Natural-Tone 79561C on Apr 8th 2022 at a cost of 3x$67.99 CAD plus tax. I cleaned all the surfaces and applied as per directions. It took a lot of back-breaking work and I am over 75yrs old. The product states a guaranteed 6 year life on decks. By the fall the stain/sealant was already starting to fade and peel off all the horizontal surfaces. By the spring of 2023 almost all the stain/sealant was gone. I took a picture of the horrible mess and contacted the company ‘PPG’ for a refund. They still have not acknowledged or responded.

Horrible Product
As many others have said, we followed all the recommended steps before applying the stain.. and it still looks horrible! It is so uneven and streaky. It is completely unforgiving. The worst part, both cans eventually started streaking a white creamy color throughout the deck, even with a thorough mix of the product. I don't recommend.

Reliable but not extraordinary
It's easy to apply, easy to clean up after and does a fine job on vertical surfaces (like deck railings) and an adequate job on horizontal ones (like decks). I doubt it would be on anyone's list of 'best deck stains' but it's certainly not bad.

Good Stuff
This is the exact colour we were looking for. Product went on well, although it needed 2 coats due to the old wood was so dry it soaked up a lot of stain. Now we wait and see how long it’s going to last. We did all the required prep work in hopes it lasts.
