Amazing skillet makes me look good!
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Recently, the good people at Napoleon sent me a Cast Iron Skillet 560003 to review and I jumped at the chance.
First- having grown up with wood burning stoves, I was happy to see the removable handle on the skillet. The biggest problem with cooking on cast iron is having a pan too hot too handle. This makes it comfortable to work with and combined with the plastic stand, makes an incredible presentation.
My first attempt to season the pan failed- I used avocado oil and baked it for about an hour but it was clearly not enough heat or time. Re oiling the pan and giving it a little more time at around 450f solved that problem.
My first dish to cook given the qualities of the pan was seared scallops. (The best part of new grilling toys is the new food you get to try!) Once the pan got to the “smoke point” I placed the scallops down and got the perfect sear I was looking for in a couple of minutes, flipped them, made a butter garlic sauce in the same pan and presented it for my family better than most restaurants. I’m definitely buying more of these for fajita night! - The wow factor is off the charts!

Awesome and simple griddle
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was provided this skillet to review from Napoleon. Awesome little griddle. Worked perfectly to cook up some peppers and onions to go with my smoked sausages. Has nice heat retention from being cast iron and the removable handle made placing and removing from the grill very easy. The included plate was nice to set it on while still hot to serve. Definitely recommend this for your bbq cooks.

Versatile Skillet
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received this for testing from Napoleon. Overall impressions were that I wish it was a little bigger. Works well for small amounts of whatever you're cooking. The kids loved doing personal pizzas in it. Makes sauteed onion and peppers easier while grilling sausages for the game, but my favorite was one skillet breakfast if you like to grill in the morning. Love the detachable handle so you don't have to worry if it's hot or not and the platform you can put it on after. I recommend cleaning and doing your own seasoning before using like any cast iron product.

Great for Sizzling Fajitas
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We used the skillet to cook fajita vegetables on the sizzle zone. It worked great! While the chicken was cooking on the prestige pro, we put some sliced onions and peppers with a bit of oil and seasoning in the skillet. What started as a large pile quickly cooked down and they finished up right alongside the chicken. The removable handle was great for bringing them back into the house. The included plastic holder worked well for serving at the table, although we did wait for the pan to cool a bit first. Overall, very happy with the pan but next time I'll add more veggies!

Sturdy little skillet
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I received this skillet free from Napoleon for testing. As soon as I unboxed it I was extremely impressed with how heavy/sturdy it was for a small little skillet (it's oval-shaped, measuring 7" X 10"). It comes with a slick base to rest the hot skillet when done cooking. The skillet and base look really sharp. Before using it the first time they recommend washing it with a mild soap, drying it and then applying a thin layer of cooking oil and putting it in a 350 degree oven for 1 hour and then letting it cool. Which I did. It did, however leave a brown tinge that I cannot remove. I am presuming this is normal with cast iron. I finally used it today to cook some asparagus. The heat was well retained and it quickly cooked the asparagus. I have to admit, the size is a little small. It may not be sufficient for a family of 4. But the sizzle coming off the barbecue and onto the resting base and on the kitchen table was quite impressive ... like at a Mexican restaurant serving fajitas! The cleanup was also quite easy and quick. A small suggestion... it would be a nice touch if Napoleon could provide some quick recipes that could come with the skillet.

Cast iron shillet 56003 - fun to discover the possibilities
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I got the cast iron skillet for free from Napoleon for testing purposes.
Overall this is very good product, easy to season before first use and very easy to clean.
Was awsome for the fajitas veggies and meat. Just warm up the skillet the the BBQ, cook the meat and veggies on it or use it as a hot serving plate. The serving tray works really well. The handle is removable which avoids burning yourself on a hot handle.
I am thinking of purchasing a second one for a family meal for 4 people.
The only downside is the handle. The remvovable handle is great while the skillet is on the serving tray, it can be remved when skillet is set on the table. As the skillet is oval shaped and very hot when in the BBQ it can be heavy to take out of the BBQ. As the handle is removable I would suggest it be either wider or covered with rubber for a better grip. the handle is not used in the BBQ.
I deffinately would recommande this product to everyone. There are so many option on how to use the skillet, BBQ or even in the oven.

Well Thought Out Product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Napoleon Professional Iron Skillet 56003 free for testing purposes. This is a product that is well thought out and has many uses; for example, serving sizzling fajitas, or searing a steak right in the skillet on the grill.
Once the skillet is seasoned, it can be placed on the hot grill and heated up so one can cook the fajitas or steaks. The skillet kit comes with a handy handle to take the skillet off of the grill. Napoleon also thought of having a serving platter to place the skillet into for single serving meals (just like a Mexican restaurant).
Pros:
Heats the food in the skillet on the grill.
A handle is included to easily lift the skillet off of the grill (without burning oneself).
A platter is provided to place the skillet in when it comes off of the grill.
The skillet and platter are combined like a dish on which to eat one’s food.
I know I will be using this Professional Iron Skillet frequently in the future!
