Excellent product
The malfuntion of the cap has nothing to do with the product. If consider yourself a handy man and you are not able to come with a way to open a can just stop being a handy man as you won't be able to solve a problem you suddenly face with the job. The product is very good. Period...

Great Product
Great product - works as a great top finish, or undercoat for a clear coat. To open the cap smack it hard with a pliers then just twist it off with the pliers.

Great product, lousy lid
Five star product and have used it for years. The difficulty in opening the lid takes it down 2 notches. Though the lid was redesigned recently, Minwax is not there yet. Fix it!

Don't pour it into a plastic cup
This product dissolves some plastic. I poured about a third of the can into a plastic cup, brushed about a 8x10 inch area, and then the bottom of the cup opened up and the hardener was all over the ground. Use a glass or metal cup when applying.

Does a good job!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Minwax Wood Hardener does the job well. I used it on inside wood cabinets, shelving, molding, etc. prior to fixing chips, holes, etc. Although the wood wasn't rotting, it was soft and the hardener worked well to get the wood ready for the next step in the process

Easy to Use to Repair Wood Rot
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Never would have thought about using a product like this on rotting wood but Minwax High Performance Wood Hardner works excellent for this type of job. The exterior of my shed has a few spots that are rotting so I was able to use Minwax Hardner on these places to get them to stop any more rot from happening. This product is super easy to use the directions are easy to follow. I used this outside and didn't notice any odor coming from the product. Definitely something I will be using again.

Wood saver!
Instead of digging out and re-manufacturing areas where there is slight dry rot, this stuff works great. Dig out all the crumbly dry rot, saturate all the wood with this stuff, then coat or fill with the 2 part wood filler. It’s a great permanent fix. Just be careful with this stuff, super toxic, but you can’t beat how it works. Oh and the cap is the cap.
