The Grinder That I Exactly Had Hoped For
I needed to buy a grinder to cut some tubes and some L steel angles at the time. And I think I spent more time researching on which angle grinder to get than the project i needed it on. With all that time spent researching (and watching YT videos) the Hikoki 36v angle grinder was going to be my choice. Fortunately Metabo HPT brought it here in the States. Unfortunately at the time, it was hard to find. My local retail store only had the 18v version and it was sold out on a couple of online stores I checked, but still lucky enough to find one online quickly. But I must admit, this is a bit pricey compared to it's other versions. Sometimes even pricier than it's slide switch version when I was looking for it a few months ago.
As a homeowner and not really a pro machinist or a pro tool reviewer, I'm not sure what people are looking for on my review of this. But this thing is powerful and/or quick, depending on what and how you're working on it. I think the L steel angle rails that I bought was pretty thick and this thing didn't stutter one bit. I'm pretty sure having a high quality cutting disc helps to make cuts smoothly, so don't skip on those too. Paired with my MHPT 36v MultiVolt batteries, this grinder feels and runs like it's plugged in the wall. The repositionable auxiliary handle makes it very easy and comfortable to hold firmly. The weight isn't bad and the 4ah batteries I have, probably makes it feel a little heavy, but I feel like its added weight makes it work more stable.
Since I only buy the tools I need and don't really have the resources to buy and compare them, watching other people compare it and putting in my research really paid off with this grinder. I also can't compare this against the 18v version and I'm sure the 18v is great as well, but if you need the power, then this exactly what you're looking for. I'm really happy with this tool and feel a lot more confident working with steel instead of wood all the time.
As far as cons go, I don't know. I haven't really found one yet. Some say the unit+battery weight, but I don't go lifting grinders at the store so I don't know what the correct weight is. All I can say is that it feels right holding it while using it.
And Yes, the paddle switch is a pro/strength, why would you buy the switch type? Hahah just kidding. I held the 18v slide switch grinder at my local store and I just felt that the paddle is a bit more faster and have more control to operate for me.
As always, be sure to get high quality discs and wear gloves and eye protection. Be safe out there.

Will cut limbs and a truck upper control arm
So I'm at a odd I borrowed a cordless chainsaw to cut limbs buddies a hour behind with so I use my 36v grinder with some thin metal cutting wheels to cuts so branches not recommended
lol maybe 10 or so some half as think as the wheel so probably 2inches thick cut them no problem will also cut a upper control arm if you can't get the bushings out

Another Great Cordless Tool From Metabo
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] One of my favorite tools in the world is a angle grinder. Need to cut a pipe? Get the angle grinder. Need to take the exhaust off the car? Get the angle grinder. Need to cut some fencing? Put those snips away and break out the angle grinder. However I hated how I always had to be by the house. What a pain in the behind to bring everything next to the plug so I could use my angle grinder. Well thanks to Metabo and their amazing multi-volt line, that is a problem no more. I love this grinder. I mainly use it with a cut off wheel, but I now can do everything out at the shed or the chicken coop without having to hook a bunch of electrical chords together. Now this tool is heavy! But who cares? Its cordless and that makes up for it. Not only that but with an easy to adjust shield that requires no tools, built in led lights, and a simple and easy to pull paddle switch, this tool is amazing. I absolutely love this tool. I can't wait to come up with more excuses to use it on something. Now do I think it has as much power as a plug in to the wall grinder, I don't know for sure, but I don't think so. However, if that is what you need sometimes, just get the adapter that plugs into the wall and your good to go!
Seriously if your considering this, stop and just get it. You won't be disappointed. Here at the homestead its value is immeasurable.

Another Great Cordless Tool From Metabo
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have always loved angle grinders. Bad exhaust? Cut it off! Need some pipe cut? Cut it off! Need to put up some hardware cloth? Get the angle grinder! The only down side has always been the stupid chord. Thankfully Metabo has made this well balanced cordless one! Able to work with the same battery as the 10" sliding miter saw, this tool has the power you need for most products. Is it as strong as a corded connection? I honestly can't say it is for sure, but if you need that power just buy the corded adapter and plug it in! On our little homestead we are always putting up fence, trimming post, and working on trailers. This is perfect for us! The shed is too far from the house for chords, and this will help sharpen lawnmower blades, cut exhaust and so much more! With handy little features like led lights, and simple to move guard, this is a winner! I can't wait to use it more! If there is any downside at all its that it is fairly heavy with the battery attached, but even though it is heavy it is surprisingly well balanced.
This is a well built quality tool that you will love to have. Don't second guess getting this one for one second!

Could not be happier
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As well as the corded 4-1/2" grinder worked, and as badly as I needed a cordless grinder, I obviously went with Metabo. This grinder is a UNIT. Balanced, powerful and CORDLESS. It's variable speed settings make this a grinder for every need. I have yet to find any cons to any of their products and will continue to run Metabo as my primary grinders!

Metabo HPT has been absolutely killing it!
As a contractor/remodeler I end up doing a fair amount of tile and masonry. I'm used to using the "Red" brand grinder's sold at the orange store's and they are great. However this new metabo 36v blow's away Milwaukee's latest variable speed grinder that I actual own. I immediately noticed the quality and feel of the metabo hpt and was even more surprised to see it loaded with features that even the top tier models from the competition doesn't have. Things like dual led lights than can be set to automatic or manual, kickback protection, soft start, protection against the blade binding, and even a automatic variable load sensing option. Also I absolutely love the slim grip, that seems like a minor detail but it really helps to keep a good grip on it. Overall this will definitely be replacing my red grinder's from this point on.

Another Banger from Metabo Hpt
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My names Brandon and I’m a concrete finisher and do concrete formwork as well. Cutting rebar is a daily thing in our business. A lot of times I’ll grab the grinder with a good cut off disc and go to town. The thing I love most about this particular grinder is the low vibration, the speed dial to adjust accordingly for material, and the power. You can put some force on this thing and it powers through. I’ve played with the auto feature and it does exactly what it was designed to do. It’ll start off a little over half the rpm’s but it can sense when it needs more power. Kind of like it has a brain inside of it lol. Seriously Metabo Hpt is known for quality. If your pushing too hard on the grinder it will shut itself off wich is great for safety of the tool and most importantly the user. I’ve done some heavy grinding on some angle iron making my own metal stakes and it’s just a blast to use. I know I say this a lot about all the metabo hpt tools I own, that they are awesome and great, but I call it for what it is. I know what a great tool is and the components that go into it. The craftsmanship, the technology, everything that makes a tool great this brand has it down pat. I work with tools almost everyday on a construction site and this grinders… it’s just built to last. Simple as that. If the power wasn’t there, if there’s something I didn’t like about it, etc etc I would leave it here in this review. I’m honest and I’m not afraid to leave a bad review when warranted. I have nothing but great things to say about this grinder. Another one knocked out of the park by metabo hpt. I actually like the fact that the handle is offset from 90 degrees from the tool body because it’s more comfortable and positioned appropriately when grinding on something. Take from this review what you will but if your in the market for a powerful, built to last, technology imbedded tool to assist you in some heavy grinding or cutting give this one a shot. I’m sure you’ll be as pleased with it as I am.
