According to the manufacturer, the 8" wheel is pneumatic, not solid rubber.

Sturdy. Didn’t work for my purpose.
I was initially really impressed with the product until I tried to install it. When the tire swivels toward the gate, it hits the gate and binds. This will only work if you have a 10” gap under the gate so the wheel can clear. Smaller versions that I have used in the past had the mounting bracket extend beyond the wheel so that this wouldn’t happen. I didn’t want a large gap under the gate so I had to return it.
