This Kobalt 40 volt Max multi-head string trimmer kit makes yard work a breeze. This string trimmer/s 15-inch cutting swath and dual side bump head makes it easy to advance the line for continuous use. Its variable-speed trigger allows you to set the power to suit the task for maximum control. The features list includes: "Universal attachment compatibility." Does this mean that there are attachments from other brands that will work with this 40V power head? If so, which attachments from which brands?
Yes !. Kobalt 40-volts lawn string trimmer has a "Universal attachment compatibility” head (and there is also a Kobalt 24-volts head as well).
Both of these heads (which is really the top half of the tool containing the battery), will allow attachment of other "universal compatible”tools such as hedge-trimmer, lawn-scarifier, edge-trimmer, string-trimmer, etc, (which are also made by Kobalt), with the acquisition of a single power head !.

A string trimmer with many many options:
Bought this trimmer for 4 reasons:
1. Backup a smaller less powerful 18v trimmer that uses .065” string.
2. Backup a 40volt battery with own charger, that works with a Kobalt 20” mower.
3. It was on sale at an attractive price.
4. Allows universal attachments (optional additional tools).
I have used this new battery in my current mower and it met my expectations - allowed non-stop mowing, with 2 batteries.
Moreover, this 40volt 4ah battery (that comes with this string trimmer) appears to be as good as my older 40volt 5ah battery (that came with my old mower); so I am pleasantly surprised and delighted.
I have not yet tested/used this .080” string trimmer, (I also like the more powerful brushless motor and easy string refill), but anticipate good results.
The only pitfall so far, was that I had to make an extended effort to pickup from the shop after an extra week layover, (with excellent customer-service support from Rona), and so increased my carbon neutral footprint!.

Great deal
I’ve only used it twice but it works great. I have a light weight 24V which is fine for small jobs and I use more often. The main reason for my purchase of this was to replace the battery in my Kobalt 20” mower.that 2.5 battery was giving me poor performance and needed to be replaced. The 4 amp that came with the trimmer is the perfect replacement at a cost close to the battery itself.
