It works
Looks nice, although who will really look closely at the top of your chimney anyways. It actually would fit a somewhat larger or smaller opening than 8x12. Be careful not to overtighten the screws, the metal is a bit flimsy and so it started bulging out before I noticed. So I loosened them a bit and it still felt secure. Expecting no more leaky fireplace in the west coast rainy season. Happy overall.
