Its opal glass and the black outside makes to make the perfect lighten whether it is on the wall or on the ceiling. I've had so many compliments on this light. It puts off great light and the glass shade doesn’t obscure any light, instead creates a softer glow. The only down side is, the globe sticks out (down) a lot further than I had imagined and hoped for. Other than that it’s beautiful and does the job!

Since this light lets me see in the dark, it's exactly what I was hoping for. If you would like to see in the dark too, then you should get a light that does what it says it will do. Like this one.
