Rental Replacement.
I bought this unit to replace the ten year old rental that I have been paying for all these years. It's exactly the same model as the rental was which simplified the installation. I had zero problems with the rental unit except I was fed-up seeing that $35 charge on my monthly gas bill. My only gripe with the new one is the price, which has risen by 50% recently so it will take about five years to pay back but I am glad to be free of the rental.

Bought this water heater because it’s locally made. Happy with the unit thus far. Venter motor a little noisy but that’s normal I guess. Rona service excellent.

Unreliable
In one year the main gas valve required replacement as the temperature sensor broke. The flame assembly needed replaced because the flame sensor broke. The pressure relief valve failed and leaked and the vapour sensor works with thanks to YouTube and an lesson in graphite conductivity and resistence. If you're a good tech, this unit is a handful. If you're lonely with a ton of money kicking around and you want regular visits from a service tech, this is your water tank. If you want consistant hot water when you turn on the tap buy anything else.

Made in Canada eh!
Replaced existing Rheem with this Giant Hot Water Tank. What made me lean towards this brand and model was the fact that there was very little in fitment from the existing tank. That made installation very easy. Also that it is made in Canada is a bonus, unlike the other main name brands that are made in Mexico.
