Rated 4 out of 5 by Dan L - TO from Worked out great - plan your install! Picked this up after buying and returning a different specialty mantel that ended up being too big. We wanted something that would be a good heat break for the TV from the fireplace below, look rustic enough (wanted reclaimed wood, but couldn't find in this price range), and that would fit in with our decor. This piece worked out great! Very solid piece, and as it has a live edge of sorts, so it does give a bit of an organic feel. The mantel attaches to the wall from three small standout metal rods that go into it, and as these recess in the back of the mantel, the location of them is fixed relative to the wall. This means if you can't find studs for the holes in these metal standouts - and of course you need to center the mantel in the area it goes essentially fixing the location - then you're going to be figuring out some advanced install method to ensure it's secure vs. sitting in drywall only. Would be nice if there was a shim/backer that let you find studs anywhere, and laterally move the mantel for centering. Stud finder is necessary here. Definitely a "measure twice" job. 4 out 5 stars as no installation hardware is included, and the way the mantel is retained on the 3 standouts isn't terrific and overly reliable (the screw threads in thin wood will shred out with almost no torque), so you need to be careful. Pro tip: Back of mantel is completely flat - you need to adjust the retaining screw angle to point backwards and compensate for any gap that appears where the standout is. We're happy with the product. Very clean, very nice, and works perfectly for intended purpose (including heat break). Recommended!
