Design of housing placement not great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Powerful battery but the people that designed this battery must not have tested it in the field the battery sticks out to far in the front and is often in the way of your work piece the old design was never in the way move the new battery back

Truth about power stack vs standard lithium
I have 4 of these batteries and it's unlikely that I got 4 bad ones so I can tell you with confidence that a flex volt battery will out perform any power stack made by a long shot the power stack batteries are lipo battery lithium polymer vs li-ion lithium ion if the power stack batteries used larger polamer bags they could possibly last longer and be a better battery however the li-ion 18650 cells used in the other battery will have more amp per cell To make a long story short power stack batteries are more dangerous and less power then a true 5 ah and a flex volt will out perform 3 power stacks

Was impressed at first.. less than a year, BAD
At first was extremely impressed by the power and longetivity of these batteries. Really like how compact they are! But that’s not why i bought them. Expected atleast twice the duration of a charge.. and unfortunately, that was never the case.
BUT, i can frame a whole fence with my 21 Degree Nailer with ONE Powerstack battery.
But as for my experience with these Powerstacks, especially in the saw zall - battery lasts like 5 mins. Hopefully the next advancement DEWALT reveals, will be more impressive.

Claims are overly hyped but still a step up
I'm a pretty loyal Dewalt guy, have 20 or so tools of varying types. I have several sizes of every battery class in the family except 12v. My experience with the Gen1 batteries is mixed. Some perform much better than others even though they're identical i.e. same product number and amps. The Powerstacks are definitely a step up. They're smaller, lighter and run slightly longer than their predecessors. They seem to perform more consistently. That said, they don't provide a good value for the price difference so unless you just gotta have the new features for your application or have to have the latest thing regardless of cost the originals provide a better bang for your buck.
Overall I recommend them as the top of the line battery but I wish Dewalt would price them more in line with real world, realized benefits rather than the academic advantages
