Description
Designed with the professional in mind, the cordless belt sander is ideal for carpentry, remodeling, and general contracting. The variable speed trigger with lock on and speed selection dial allows for ultimate speed and application control with 25 speed increments. The quick release belt change allows sand paper to be changed easily with the quick release system. With the over-mold auxiliary handle it gives you two- handed operation and better grip for an easier scribing application. The dust collection feature with included adapters, tool-free dust chute is compatible with DEWALT's Airlock System or a standard 35mm dust extractor to minimize dust during sanding. Wireless Tool Control System allows for ease of use when paired with compatible DEWALT vacuum or dust extractor. With the Brushless Motor you can achieve increased runtime and efficiency. Lastly, the 3X21 in. platen allows for larger surface area sanding.

Short run time
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this sander for paint removal on siding and decks, and leveling of large glued-up panels that don’t fit in my planer. This is a good product, except for the short run time. Changing belts is easy and I had no problems with belt tracking, as was noted in other reviews. I have three 30Ah batteries, and only get 2 min run time on each, equates to less than 20 lineal feet of 6” wide board. Would deplete all three batteries before the first could recharge. Might work better with larger capacity packs, but weight would start to be an issue, as the sander is already a bit heavy for work on vertical surfaces.

Buy another brand
I purchased this for my high school carpentry class, from the start the belt tracking knob was too short, and I can't keep the belt adjusted with the knob fully seated belt still tracks to the inside.

No real basic information.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just received my new belt sander. However. Nothing in any of the documentation tells me what size belt I need to purchase to use it. I see one measurement of 3" x 21" and another one of 3" x 18". So, why can't the documentation show the basic information for the sanding belt size???
Even the belt which came with the sander doesn't have any size listed on it.

Big Power, Light Weight
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Finally DeWalt has a cordless belt sander!!! This tool is a must have for anyone who does any type of woodworking. Countless times I could have used a regular belt sander, but didn't want to deal with the hassle of pulling out cords, dragging them around and overall creating an unsafe workspace. The cordless belt sander is very powerful, quick and easy belt changes and makes my life that much easier and safer when working. The variable speed trigger is amazing for those small finishing touch ups.

Great for southpaws
Have over a dozen 20V DeWalt tools. Love them all! Not sure about this one though. Why the heck did they put the dust discharge on the left side? I'm a righty and sometimes (when working outside) I don't care to hook up a vac or put the bag on, so where does the dust go? (right into me rather than away!)
