Description

The CRAFTSMAN SB620 is powered by a 272 cc 4-cycle OHV engine. The strong serrated steel augers cut through snow for faster clearing, saving you time on those frigid mornings. Its self-propelled drive, featuring 6 forward and 2 reverse speeds, provides control and versatility in any winter condition. With a 28-in clearing width and a 21-in intake height, it provides an oversized clearance so you can save time with the ability to clear more snow. The 200° rotating extended chute design keeps a tighter discharge pattern to increase throwing distance and reduce snow blowback. The 16-in tires offer traction and easier steering in snowy areas. Added features include an in-dash headlight to provide greater visibility in low-light conditions and deluxe adjustable poly skid shoes to eliminate garage rust stains and protect surfaces from scuffing. This snow blower also comes with a 2-year limited warranty for peace of mind.

How many horse power

Asked by: Country life
Thank you for your question. The industry has moved to describing air cooled engines using displacement in cc's, a reliable and consistent way to rate capacity. While no longer rated in horsepower, our modern winterized 272cc overhead valve engine has been carefully chosen to provide plenty of power for this premium snow thrower.

CRAFTSMAN SB620 28-in 272-cc Two-Stage Self-Propelled Gas Snow Blower with Push-Button Electric Start is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful Machine. I am a craftsman fanatic. This particular snow blower was no different to me. This 2-stage is simple to use and powerful. I was not let down on this model. It is an absolute performer. Starts on the first pull.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Top notch machine, old-school Craftsman quality. I am on year 2 with my blower, last year was a dismal performance by mother nature so I didn't get much time to play with it. This year has been the same up until last night. I'm very happy with the performance of this machine. I do wish it would run a tad higher RPM, the chute tightening device comes loose a lot despite replacing the washer with a lock washer. Lastly, I have a brand new driveway so it's smooth as a baby's rear and no cracks or jarring bumps. But. it doesn't glide along smoothly as I would hope it should. I have checked the shave bar and skids and can't understand why its doing this. Overall, I think it's great and works great on the crazy Iowa snows we get.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I'll give mine a 4, but I bot my Craftsman 10 years ago, use it 2-4X yr, always deep snow, always 4 @ 150' & 2 @ 250' driveways, with each having a large parking area. I've replaced belts twice due to rocks & 1" crushed gravel drives. Last winter had my first major mechanical issue as impeller broke its' weld off the shaft, no shear pin, had to get it welded. It's less the fault of the machine than the terrain it works on. All drives are rough heavy rocky gravel to good gravel, all are lumpity-bumpity, and inclined significantly. My neighbours love me for it as we're in the woods. My machine looks pretty beat-up, but still runs a champ, and still throws DRY snow very well. My forever complaint is when the snow gets a bit wet, the chute plugs very badly, so I have to get up early before the sun, and before things start to warm. I do notice the new machines have a different all steel, squared chute which may help. The best part is electric start because I've tried the recoil starter and 'no way'. Size & weight make 'power'-steering mandatory (tried others w/o & it's a heart attack in the making) If they put a 14" auger & impeller in, and made the chute wider to blow warm and slushy snow, mine would be a superstar. Like I said, my Craftsman is a 10yo, so in the new ones there'll be changes, but it still runs well (hearing protection please), I drain the gas every spring & run it dry. I change the synthetic oil only every 2 years and hose out all dirt, sand & rocks. I also go through a LOT of shear-pins, again it's terrain. Belts, adjustments, oil, clean the spark plug & shear-pins are just routine maintenance, so the only major thing was the impeller. I think that's good & fair value. For the money, mine was a life-saver, and remains a good, workable tool. It won't last another 10 years, but it doesn't owe me a lot, although I prefer every tool to last my lifetime. I just wish it would handle the wet snow, it's always choked on that stuff & I have to quit & get my shovel out.
