I have yet to start the mower. Do you first install the recoil starter to the right upper handle, have it secured in place first, and then pull on the recoil starter rope?

Yes during the initial assembly/setup (after extracting and secruing the lower handles from the mower deck), hold the blade control against the upper handle, slowly pull the recoil starter rope handle from the engine and slip the starter rope into the rope guide, then tighten the rope guide knob. Would be great if it would actually work
I bought this lawnmower thinking it’ll last me forever. I was wrong. It’s been almost 4 years since I’ve owned it and I’ve had to get it fixed 5 separate times. It will NOT start. I get it fixed, it’ll work great for the first few times and BAM, it won’t start up again. I paid $439 plus tax for this lawnmower, add on the cost I paid to get it fixed each time. Total waste of money. It is now sitting in my garage collecting dust. Did I just get a defective machine? Such a disappointment!

Workhorse
This mower is a workhorse. Used some of the facier brands in the past and this thing leaves them all in the dust. If you sharpen the blades once a season this mower is basically a brush hog when you need it and a finisher when you don't.

Be Aware
Bought this mower 2 week ago. Cut the grass the day I got it seemed fine. Went to use it for the SECOND time yesterday and it will not start. Yes it has gas in it. Yes the sparkplug is firing. It seems like a fuel problem. Now I am in Craftsman limbo waiting to get help that isn't forthcoming.
