Handy Tool
When I had no idea what I was doing or how to use tools properly I may have agreed with the negative reviewers. The truth is that nothing is wrong with this trimmer and it works great if you learn how to best use it instead of trying it out a few times on your finished product and cursing the tool for ruining your product.
Try it out on scrap wood, learning how much pressure to exert, what speed to go at, how different materials react, etc. Once you get the hang of it, you can quickly and easily strip the excess off of your edges, with flawless results.
One reviewer stated that the edge on his was out of alignment. If it is on yours, you will know when practicing and can save your finished products by adjusting the blade's position beforehand. I have not had this problem yet, but it is an easy fix and worth the effort to make this tool work properly.
Stanley also makes one of these and they are inexpensive and work well out of the box (so to speak, since they don't come in boxes). They last a fair bit before the blade dulls and have blade's on both sides. This is my preferred trimmer and I have trimmed countless wooden edge banding of maple, ash, alder, birch, oak, poplar and pine, as well as melamine with no problems what-so-ever.
So, if you use one of these, practice first, make adjustments to the blade position if your trimmer for whatever reason needs it, don't "learn" on your finished product, show more patience than the others who have expected perfection and blamed the tool for their disasters and you will no doubt be posting a review that doesn't reflect the same outcomes as these other impatient DIY'ers that posted on here.

Works like a charm IF...
At first I also had the trimmer damaging my wood work. However after realizing the blade is too close to the guide, I've adjusted the blade which now makes the perfect cut on a single glide.
Would give 3 stars for not being ready to use out of the box or maybe 2 for not giving a warning!
But honestly you can't beat this price.

Dommage qu'on ne puisse pas mettre 0 étoiles !
Si vous désirez détruire le panneau de mélamine que vous venez de couper (et plus), c'est l'outil parfait ! Rona devrait retirer ce produit de leur inventaire ! J'ai finalement utilisé un xacto pour trimmer le chant et cela fonctionne parfaitement.
