Description
Lite Sand setting compounds are lightweight, sandable, chemically setting powders used to pre-fill joints, embed joint tape and conceal joints, fasteners and trim accessories on gypsum wallboard. They can also be used for interior patching and repair. They are ideal for heavy fills because they are specially formulated to harden with very little shrinkage in a prescribed time frame. This compound is formulated for lower water addition which dries faster, gives a stronger bond, and is creamier consistency. The setting time is about 90 minutes. CertainTeed ensures your complete satisfaction with a 1-year limited warranty.

Terrible! Bits of gravel in it
Terrible. They have changed the composition in the past 4 months and now there is bits of gravel in the mix. Back to CGC even though it’s 20% more expensive

If you like gravel in your mud.go for it.
This is my first time using this brend.
Normally I use USG. Wasn't available were I was working.
This is the worst powder mix I've ever used it's.like a sand mix.
I even went to get a different batch date. But it was still December.
It left grit lines like I was mixing it with rocks

Not sure what happened with this 90 minute compound. It was setting up within 9 to 10 minutes. Timed one batch at 13 minutes.
Cold water, clean tools and mud pan, hand mixed. Small batches, maybe 2 cups of mix. I’ve used another brand of 90, 45 and 20 for years and nothing like this has happened.
I went back to an old bag of 45 I’ve had for a couple years and used it instead, worked fine. I’ll be returning this and going back to my regular brand. Maybe the Certain Teed tech should will look into it ?

Better than sheetrock
In contrast to the other two reviews here, I would never use setting compound for a finish coat that would need sanded. That aside, this product is so much easier and nicer to work with than sheetrock 90. Just make sure you haven't purchased the high density compound, that stuff is impossible to sand. Maybe that's what these other guys bought. It's often the only 90 minute compound that the store has.
I have suggested this product to others, and one guy switched to certainteed from cgc because of it.

I agree with the other review that this stuff is too hard to sand. Buy the CGC brand its really good to work with
