Description
For use on new or reconditioned exterior wood only, including decks, siding, fences and trim. Also suitable for use on shingles, shakes and log homes. Stain is specially formulated with a unique blend of resin and oil to provide a superior, natural finish for bare wood. Easy to apply and stain slightly darkens wood when first applied, leaving a flat, translucent-toned finish, which weathers with time to a natural wood hue. 3.78 L. Heartwood color.

Looks great. For a minute. But garbage overall.
EXTREMELY disappointing. I have decades of construction, woodworking, and wood finishing experience, so I KNOW I applied the product properly. This product does not penetrate. It is simply a coating, and that coating is failing catastrophically. I had a few bad spots toward the end of the first year, so I redid those spots per manufacture recommendations. And now, less than two years later, the entire deck looks like garbage. I now must sand the entire thing down to bare wood and apply another NON-CABOT product.

Beautiful finish
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this two years ago and now it’s time to purchase more to refresh my deck. I love the finished look of the wood. It lets the beauty of the wood show through, drys without leaving a sticky surface that attracts and holds dust. It has worn away and so the deck should be easy to prep without sanding so I can redo the surface when the weather permits.

Frustrated
Extremely disappointed. This is the first coat of stain that I placed on my deck ever since the treated wood dried out two and a half years ago. It hasn't even been a year and there are now patches of it. The patches resist the water from soaking into the wood, but the bare spots absorb water. Now what? Do I have to put a ton more effort into correcting my choice of purchasing your wood toned stain and sealant because of the poor quality of your stain? Your stain isn't exactly cheap.

Very Disappointed!
We invested heavily in the Cabot Wood Toned Stain and Sealer for our very large new deck last summer. We could not be more disappointed at how it looks after less than just one year. The stain is almost entirely gone except in some of the edges. The amount of money, time, and hard work we wasted on this product is heartbreaking.

Long time user, tried them all, Cabot is the best!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I found Cabot stain about 15 years ago after trying all the major brands. Cabot is the best. Great coverage and durability. I use 20 - 25 gallons a year on our large cedar sided house and barns.
