Description
For use on exterior wood decks, siding, fences and trim. Also suitable for use on shingles, shakes and roofs. Especially effective on rough-sawn surfaces. Stain is a deep-penetrating, oil-based stain that beautifies and protects exterior wood. Water repellent, mildew-resistant, and when properly applied, won't crack, peel or blister. This warranty excludes all incidental or consequential damages.

Great product with great coverage.
Used the product on a 200 sq ft 40 year old redwood deck. It's south facing without a deck cover and gets tons of direct sunlight and was in bad need of refinishing. We stripped , neutralized and sanded the deck and applied the Cabot Semi-Transparent Stain + Sealer tinted with redwood pigment. We used a Cabot 4 in deck brush. Couldn't be happier with the finish and the color. The coverage was good too. Used 2/3 of a gallon for the 20 sq ft. Even tones and no streaking or bands. Tips - stain at approx 55 degs with cloud cover. Make sure to backbrush. We shall see how long the stain holds up but looks great now and easy clean up with warm soapy water. Highly recommended.

Poor coverage
We prepped our deck properly. Our deck is three years old. My issue is the same as everyone else’s: poor coverage, looking splotchy, even patchy. I’m giving it one year hoping it weathers out, then I’ll remove it. I heard great things about Cabot in the past, but how I wish I had read current reviews before using it. What a waste of my time.

Disappointed
Not happy with coverage. Cabot was recommended to me when we first put up our deck. Three years later I decided to go Cabot semi-transparent. Our deck was properly prepped. However, my complaint is the same as so many others: poor coverage. There’s something not right with this product mix, formula, whatever. I’ll give it a year and then it’s coming off.

Just did my front deck and fence with Cabot Semi-solid Oak Brown with my Graco sprayer. Stuff is legit, thick and when on well. Very pleased

The stain stays beautifully 5600 high elevation
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our house built in 1996, used Cabot Semi-Transparent Deck Stain initially and still use them after 28 years. red ceder color oil base goes on smooth and it does not peel or chip. it's time again for re-stain to maintain that new deck look. Very happy with Cabot's quality.

I use this product every year!
