The Broan 4" white plastic "EcoVent" exit vent for dryer or bathroom venting systems features a patented floating ball check valve to eliminate backdrafts. Its durable insulation material eliminates thermal bridge to improve energy efficiency and prevent condensation on ducts. The grid and ball valve prevent animal intrusions.

Best Dryer Vent
This is a must have for cold Canadian winters. It is easy to install, operates quietly, and keeps both cold and critters out. If you are looking to upgrade, buy this vent!

Best dryer vent for Canada
I have owned one for over 10 years with zero issues. I bought this one for my children’s new house to replace the usual garbage vent. In this time of eco awareness I am surprised this area is often neglected by homeowners. It will pay for itself in two seasons compared to the 10 dollar specials that end up sticking open. Those are made for warm climates and is criminal they are universally sold in Canada. It is slightly larger than a standard vent so if your existing vent is boxed in tight by siding you may require some slight modifications. Don’t worry it is worth it. Every couple of years I check it and there is only a slight amount of lint on the grill. The ball is still free floating as required. I have noticed on other reviews that this unit is not recommended for bathroom vents because the low heat and high humidity can freeze the styrofoam ball.

J'ai acheté ce produit pour remplacer l'existant. La différence est notable en période de grand froid et je n'ai plus de condensation dans ma conduite. ( ressenti moins 30). Aucun son produit par le mouvement de la balle dans mon cas.

La boule gèle l’hiver
J’ai acheté cet article car il devait être efficace contre le froid. Le système de boule s’est avéré efficace durant la saison chaude jusqu’au début de l’hiver, mais par les journées de grands froids, après que nous avons terminé le séchage, l’humidité fait coller la boule contre la surface de l’évent et elle gèle sur place, l’empêchant par le fait même de reprendre sa place à fin d’empêcher le froid d’entrer à l’intérieur du tuyau. On doit alors décoller manuellement la boule (délicatement pour ne pas l’abîmer) à l’aide d’un outil, à fin de la libérer.

Very effective!
These vent oulets use a EPS foam ball & socket to close off the flow of air back into the residence, thus preventing unwanted cold air and moisture from entering the building. The ball is about 4” diameter and falls by gravity into the matching socket to block airflow. Very effective! It only opens when the exhaust airflow from indoors, lifts the lightweight ball out of the socket allowing air to pass. The foam construction aids energy retention of the vent system greatly when not in use. This vent is quite pricey but i find its worthwhile for the long term. I would recommend cleaning the vent outlet ( and piping system) periodically of dryer lint, as you would for any dryer vent system.
