Is the glass a tempered glass? Are the dimensions given just for the base. A review said that the table is very large. What are the dimensions of the table when assembled? I understand the base is black metal. Please confirm.

Beautiful but meat bigger than described.
I just received this yesterday and assembled it. It is so much bigger than I thought. I thought perhaps it was my error that I hadn't read the description right but it is described as 30". It really is too big for my livingroom.
