Excellent Range
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've always cooked on a gas range but have grown increasingly frustrated by their shortcomings. Mine had become impossible to keep clean, grates were warped, igniters were unreliable, and burners had hotspots. Plus growing concerns over safety and health issues. So I decided to go induction. The more I use this range, the better I like it. The cooking surface covers the entire width and depth, less the 2.5 inch wide oven vent at the rear. And flared pans can reach past the vent to the wall. It is cabinedt height and mates perfectly with my counter top. Food won't fall between counter and range and pots can slide between them. Control knobs are protected from drips and spatte being shielded bu the front overhang. All surfaces are flat and easily accessible for cleaning. The ceramic top cleans with a quick wipe down and spills during cooking are easily cleaned by picking up the offending pot and wiping down the top as it never gets super hot Burners have 13 adjustable steps tha display through the ceramic top. But so far, and this is really a minor problem,those steps appear to be stepped digitally, are not infinately variable between settings. Burner response is instantaneous and easily modulated as long as I'm paying attention. Things happen quickly on induction. Once set, the power output is constant. Boiling is about twice as fast as gas and you can get almost as slow a simmer as on gas. I have started using a stainless steel diffuser when I can't quite dial in a slow simmer. Heating is a very even circle the size of the magnet. Large burners are in front, where they belong and small burners are at the back. I also really like being able to use the rest of surface for other things when cooking on one or two burners. I haven't used the oven a lot as I have a good toaster over that will do a lot of my roasting. Temperature settings are accurate fitting a few degrees, the racks are substantial and secure, convection is available in all modes, it has a good light and a large window, it seems very well insulated, front and sides, and the little heat from the vent in the back is handled well by my vent hood. I have it freestanding and exposed on one side. Hot air was escaping from the gap between stove and the wall, but Bosch makes an extra costpanel to fit the gap and once installed, all heat goes up the back. I used the stove to bake once on non-convection and it seemed hotter in the back. It makes some noises that some could find annoying. The magnets buzz and/or click continuously when in use and there's at least one cooling fan the continues to run until the oven cools to about 250 F after it is turned off.

Avoid the Bosch freestanding induction range line
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) If you are considering this product, I strongly recommend you do not purchase it and instead select a different induction range. From an aesthetic standpoint, the range is certainly stunning and will provide a beautiful focal point in your kitchen. However, this is a fairly staggering example of form over function. For anyone who wants to actually cook and not just look at their kitchen, this is simply a no-go.
As numerous other reviewers have pointed out, the cooling fan which is active whenever the oven is on, is excessively loud. Despite the numerous people who have complained about this fact, I foolishly proceeded ahead wondering to myself, how bad could it possibly be? The answer - extremely bad. It's louder than a typical kitchen exhaust fan and can be heard on the floor above my kitchen. I understand the necessity of having a cooling fan with an induction product, but this unit is just absurd and quite literally orders of magnitude louder than comparable ranges. How can a company renowned for their supremely quiet dishwashers make this? Well, the answer to that question probably lies in the fact that this unit is manufactured in Italy by Smeg and aside from the label on the front, isn't really a Bosch product.
I own a Bosch dishwasher and it is superb. I would recommend that to anyone. However, for induction, do not make the same mistake I did - stay away. I find it particularly egregious to deal with these issues on what is marketed and priced as a premium product. It performs far worse than products which cost a third of the price. Quite simply it looks great, but is rendered practically useless due to the cooling fan. Really could not be more disappointed.
