Description
Sisal rope is an economical and natural choice for domestic usage. It is UV resistant, has little stretch, and is perfect for knot-tying. Gave me headaches and splinters
Bought this to make a DIY scratching post for my cat. The morning after setting it up I woke up with a headache and realized it was worse whenever I was in the room with the rope. I saw another review noted a strong petroleum smell so maybe that’s related, but I was born without of sense of smell and live alone so I have no idea. After I tore down the rope and vacuumed the huge mess of particles it left behind, my headache started to fade. The rope also really hurt my fingers, gave me splinters and even cut my finger at one point. I wonder if maybe there was mold in the rope because parts of it were stained dark brown/black.

Great for cat trees
I bought it back in end of December. Since then (2 1/2 months), it holds up well against 2 cats :p . I managed to wind up about 2ft of a 2/4 with one roll. Contrary of the previous review, mine doesn't have a smell of petroleum, at least it doesn't the day I've ritten this review.

Horrible petroleum smell
When I opened this, it comes sealed in plastic, I immediately noticed a very strong petroleum smell coming from the rope. I have left it open in my garage for 4 days now and the smell is not going away. My use is inside and therefore I can't use it with the terrible smell. It also makes me wonder how this is made as I bought a different brand of 1/4" sisal rope which does not have a petroleum smell (it only smells of jute, as one would expect since it is supposed to be a plant product).
