Can you "disengage" the self-propelled and just use as a standard push mower? If so, is it just as easy to push ?
it has two levers , one for self propeled and one for mower, you can use either alone or both , the mower is easy to push without assist, or you can use the assist to move the mower without mowing, a lot lighter than my gas Honda

Kobalt is worth a look!
Great mower, even better then the first B/O Kobalt I bought six years ago. Cuts culllvert with ease. Old battery even fits. Wife says low speed is still a little fast. Nice that rear wheels gear up and run without cut blade.

Works great!
Excellent product. The self propelling feature is really nice in the fact that it works even when just moving the mower around. Downside to all battery operated tools is the price of batteries. It's cheaper to buy a new tool and battery then a replacement battery alone. They've all got us there.

Good so far
We are seniors and I can no longer push a mower. My wife has taken over the chore but needs the easy start and self propelled feature. So far ( purchased May 24) it works good but even at the slowest speed is still a little fast for her pace. We bought the extra battery and needed it to finish the job. ( not a problem).
It’s quiet, has nice safety features, it has an easy height adjustment feature. It’s still a little heavy for a small, elderly woman but we’re happy so far. May change our mind later in the season but good for now. Nice price too

Great product and company
I bought this a month ago and I am happy I chose this brand. I have the snow shovel and snow blower by this company and now the lawnmower. All the products are great. Great power and great price.

Excellent replacement for the first generation
This is my second Kobalt battery powered mower. The first one was the first generation without self propelled feature nor side discharge. I find for my sized lot the battery even with self propelled feature on has ample power and time to cut. Many reviews complain about battery life, but the mower cuts at the exact amount of time from the description, i.e. so it the mower says it has a 30 min battery life, and the mower cuts for 35 mins it is meeting the exact guideline stated by manufacturer, this doesn’t warrant a 1 star. Over all the mower has great suction and mulching ability, I see no major issues with the newer model vs the old. With the first mover being almost 10 year with the original battery still working, now my get my son out to cut at the same time mower this is a great buy!!!!

Nice to give up gas.
So far mower works well. The self propelled works well on my hill but wears the battery down quickly. So far the battery lasts about 35-40 minutes. Wish it came with a backup so that I can cut all my grass at once. Takes 2 hours to recharge battery.

Not exactly as hope for battery duration
Regrettably, I was hoping this lawnmower with 40V battery would hold its charge longer than 30 minutes of operation. I was wrong. The convenience however is that I have a Kobalt Weed thrasher and a Kobalt Hedge trimmer that use the same battery. I did find that if I didn't use the self propel function of the lawn mower, that I could get an extra 15 minutes from the battery.
