Description
This product is a tintable water based primer, sealer, stain and odour blocker developed by KILZ MAX with a new technology that's formulated to perform like oil and shellac-based products. It tackles tough stains including medium to heavy water damage, rust, smoke, nicotine, grease, tannin, ink, pencil, felt marker, pet stains and more. It seals pet and smoke odours. The topcoat can be done with latex or oil-based paint. Use it on properly prepared interior surfaces, such as brick, ceramic, tile, painted metal, glass, masonry, wood, plaster and drywall. It also seals porous surfaces, help block and seal odours, help block severe stains and hides previous colour.

Not for the toughest stains / smoke damage
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pretty disappointed with this product. I'm currently flipping the upstairs unit in my multifamily home that has 20 years of cigarette smoke in it. I have been using Sherwin Williams White Pigmented Shellac primer and it has worked wonders. However, I ran out on this holiday weekend, so I had to grab a can of this at Home Depot. As you can see from the picture, this stuff doesn't come close to the performace of shellac primer. The picture shows one coat of shellac beside one coat of Kilz Restoration. It speaks for itself. Save yourself the hassle and go to Sherwin Williams.

95 year old smoker
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought a house that a 95 year old smoker owned, my new neighbor told me when she was still living there he refused to go inside it was so somke-filled, I put KILZ on everything I could paint and when my neighbor came in he did believe his nose! He asked me what I did and I said one word, KILZ
