FIRE / SAFETY HAZARD
PLEASE READ FULLY:
Bought the kettle 15 months ago. Most of the time, it works fine.
However, we have had multiple occasions lately where the lid pops itself open while boiling, leading to the auto-off function to not kick in.
As this happens, the kettle continues to increase its temperature and will boil vigorously, until all water evaporates and unit continues to overheat.
Our kettle is outside of the 1-year warranty, but when contacted about this safety hazard, the company hid behind the warranty and told me they would be closing our case. We have all kinds of Sunbeam products, but based on this interaction, this will be our last.
If you have any concern over product safety, AVOID this product.

I bought this kettle around the same time I moved into my new home and it is still working as well as the day I bought it. I keep the element clean by boiling white vinegar in it once a month as I have a lot of minerals in my water. You can't beat this kettle especially for the low price. If this one ever dies on me then I will definitely replace it with the exact same one.

Cord falls out constantly
Why make a beautiful kettle with a (detachable cord)..seriously the stupidest thing ever....The cord falls out while the kettle is in the midst of boiling rendering the kettle a piece of junk.
