Great ducted, terrible ductless / poor install
Just purchased this hood and finished installing it.
PRO: we like the looks, clean, stainless pyramid with simple controls etc.
CONS: The installation manual is really poor. The biggest mistake is the measurement for the lower bracket for the top chimney states 10-1/2" down from the ceiling. After installing them and trying to put the upper chimney section on.... That dimension needs to actually be about 11-3/4" for the holes to line up. Over 1-1/4 off....
The wire retainer nut really needs to be on the backside of the hood but that means having to hold the hood up closed to being in place while feeding the wire though it and tightening the clamp before trying to light it up on the wall mounting screws... No actual mention of anything about the clamp in the manual other than it being on the needed parts list.
We are using the re-circulation option (until the spring when ducting can be punched through the roof) and the plastic duct that sends the exhaust sideways out the bottom chimney is actually too wide so if pushes the bottom of the lower chimney section outwards and causes a huge gap at the top where it meets the upper chimney section. Could not figure out the issue and tried adding a small screw at the top to hold it in but ended up needing to cut some material off both sides of the plastic duct to get it to fit correctly.
And the final problem is no stores anywhere around us have the charcoal filters in stock. Earliest delivery ESTIMATE is sometime 2 months from now... Might as well wait another month at that point until it can be ducted through the roof.
If it wasn't for the installation problems, which could be easily fixed with corrections / updates to the manual I would recommend this hood to someone who is direct venting this without hesitation. Not being able to actually get the charcoal filters makes using it as a ductless/re-circulation system pointless
