Description
The BRK(TM) is a 3-in-1 120 V A/C hardwired detector that combines a smoke and carbon monoxide alarm with a 177 CD LED strobe light for the hearing impaired in a compact package. The Smart strobe flashes differently for smoke and CO detection. The detector is equipped with a 10-year sealed lithium battery, eliminating battery changes and nuisance beeps due to low batteries for the entire life of the detector. Its built-in photoelectric smoke sensor reduces nuisance alarms from cooking smoke or shower steam. It also utilizes an electrochemical carbon monoxide detector for increased accuracy. This product is backed by a 10-year limited warranty.

Terrible, all have failed within 3 years
Installed in a brand new home and started the end of life 3 chirps within a year. We have ~8 and 4 have been unplugged due to random beeps almost always in the middle of the night. Just now one we had unplugged started beeping...while not plugged into any power source.
We are first went through the warranty which was super easy but it's absolutely not worth it because a few months later another starts having the same issues.
We have also heard our neighbours' alarms going off randomly in other (also brand new) houses.

Electrical contractor installed it one year ago, eight of them.. He said this is city approved... Omg... Absolutely garbage.. we disconnected all of them.. False alarm/ Chirping every alternative days/terrified dog/ heart attack is imminent when you get up middle of the night due to false alarm/never buy this... we changed it with a simple and practical one... what a relief!! We don't need strobe light and Sound when you have people with good vision and normal ear functions at home. Poor design..

They are absolutely trash, they just woke up our whole family AGAIN with a terrorizing false alarm. There should be better options to install in our new homes. The electricians only had two options they were allowed to use and the other model was just as horrible

Terrorized my household
There were eight of these installed in the home we moved into two months ago. They are less than two years old. Last night they started going off, collectively and randomly, at 4:00 am. Appallingly loud, strobe lights everywhere. 80 minutes, 2 flustered children, 1 terrorized cat, and 1 visit from the fire department later (to confirm what we knew already - no smoke, no CO) we're told the best solution is to tear them all out and replace them. Having now read the other reviews, I see we are not alone. Definitely avoid!!

Absolute garbage
I had about a dozen of these hardwired in my house. After 12-18 months they fail. It always happens in the middle of the night. I have now removed all of them and looking for replacements from a different company. First alert makes absolute garbage products

Do not use
Malfunctions regularly. Have replaced 4 units (company will replace for free). They tell you to clean them and a spec of dust can cause the issue. Extremely annoying and terrorizes my dog (and us!). They are very very loud. Definitely avoid.
